Exploring Myself, Within and Out.

It wasn’t until I looked out the airplane window, descending on Athens, Greece, for a 3 week study abroad that I noticed the itch I had for travel. There was a feeling in my body that I had never had before - a spark of passion and desire to know all things unknown to me. A craving to meet people who didn’t speak the same language as I; to try their foods and learn their dances. A want to understand how people simply just are. This is where my story starts.

My name is Julia. I am a mid-20’s gal who, like so many others, is struggling to navigate the new norm of adulthood. Being laid off of work has brought about too many part-time jobs and a sense of feeling lost and unfulfilled. Social media doesn’t help either - constantly seeing others traveling and living a dream I am torn to take on. I know that it is often times only the good side we’re seeing, but it still stings nonetheless - more because I am simultaneously “planting roots” and desiring that wanderlust at the same time. Is it feasible to have both at once? I’m not sure yet. But in that mix of emotions, I’m trying to keep myself grounded with friends, climbing, yoga and meditation, and dreaming of places I long to see (with an affordable budget of course).

The blog has been a project long in the works, and you know what, I’m just going to try it out. My aim with Mellow Ways Co. is to sharing my writing and thoughts about places I’ve seen, sustainable travel tips and products, and well, just about my passion for exploring and how it has shaped me as an individual.

I am so excited to take on this journey with whomever cares to stop by. I hope you can relate, find answers, or even just find validation in knowing you aren’t alone on this big blue planet. Here is to exploring deep within ourselves and with the world around us.

All the love,

Julia
